Health Professional Scholarship Program - Nurse Faculty/Educator Only 2016-17 (Application Closed)

The Health Professional Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students training to be primary care health professionals. Currently, consideration for awards is given to registered nurses who are enrolled in, or have been accepted into, an eligible nursing education program. Partcipants commit to teaching as a Nurse Faculty/Educator.

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to qualify:

  • Be a registered nurse enrolled in or accepted into an educational program at an accredited college physically located in Washington State that leads to eligible employment as a Nurse Faculty/Educator. Applicants who do not yet have an acceptance letter may submit an application with that status noted. 
  • Have an educational plan that allows the recipient to be continuously enrolled and complete the course of study within the number of academic terms normally required at the school.
  • Not owe an obligation for service to the federal government, state, or other entity.
  • Not have been a recipient of the Washington Health Professional Loan Repayment and Scholarship Program. Participation is limited to one program.
  • Reside in Washington State for the duration of the approved educational program and service obligation.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, be a permanent resident, or have a Visa type that allows the recipient to work unrestricted in Washington State to fulfill the service obligation.

Scholarship awards are based on availability of state-supported program funds that may not accommodate the entire cost of attendance through the completion of the approved educational program.

Health Professional Loan Repayment Program

The Health Professional Loan Repayment Program encourages licensed primary care health professionals to serve in Washington's critical shortage areas by providing educational repayment assistance. Applicants agree to provide primary care health care in rural or underserved urban areas with designated shortages.
